World Flags, US States and GB Counties now link to Google Maps from maps and cities in Map View.
Despite not being configured as a Progressive Web App (PWA), Key Facts can be installed directly in Chrome on Android devices, in Safari on iPhones and from Edge or Chrome on computers.
Once installed, it can be launched from your Home Screen or Start Menu with no address bar, except in Safari where it is fixed at the top. Caching is handled by your browser rather than the app so does not have the offline capabilities of a PWA. Besides it would still need to be connected even if configured as such because of the high number of images.
I have since added a manifest file that hopefully removes the address bar in Safari but am still awaiting a reply on whether it does. Either way it is an improvement on the floating one that appears whenever the keyboard is activated in a normal browser tab.
To install in Chrome on an Android device, open the Key Facts launch page by clicking the icon above and click the three dots in the address bar then 'Install and create shortcut'. Select the upper option in the next window to install. It may take a while but you will be notified once installed.
To install in Safari on an iPhone, open Key Facts launcher and tap the Share button in the toolbar. Select 'Add to Home Screen'. Ensure 'Open as Web App' is selected and press the Add button.
To install on a computer, open the Key Facts launcher and click the three dots to the right of the addresss bar. Select 'More tools' ―► 'Apps' ―► 'Install this site as an app' in Microsoft Edge or 'Cast, save and share' ―► 'Install page as an app...' in Google Chrome and continue in the next window.
As a gift to my granddaughter, Film Stars initially started out with actors from films that she had seen. Having gradually added more, I now intend to push on with adding many, many more in the coming weeks, as there are far too many for whom I am guilty of omission.
It had been suggested that I categorise them into different eras or time periods as shown above. I am therefore adding further in character shots for those actors spanning different periods, defaulting to the latest when 'All' is selected. They may not be their most famous or acclaimed roles but are primarily chosen from films classified with a 15 rating or less.
The new version is about ready and undergoing tests while adding more images. I cannot guarantee in character shots for all decades of an actor's career, which will take some time to gather before pushing on with more actors. Neither am I allocating actors to an era just for short films or voice parts; they are included for live action movies.
The new World Flags framework uses a database that has been configured to support multilingual requirements in the future. However the Option List already works and tests can be performed if or when World Flags is translated in your web browser.
Browsers behave differently such that you may still need to scroll through the Option List for full translation before typing or after changing mode or continent. The list itself can always be used for selection instead, although it does remain in English language order.
For best results, select the mode, continent and test options you wish before translation. You will need to scroll through the Option List in some browsers before it is fully translated.
You are now ready to perform tests in your chosen language.
I shall return to this matter some time, so that countries can be reordered alphabetically after translation. Whether or not your language will be fully supported, World Flags may still attempt to link to Wikipedia pages in your preferred language. Kiddle, however, is only available in English and Spanish.
